Al-Nidal, Sama and stakeholders continue the pressure campaign to amend the draft freedom of expression law
Al-Nidal Society for Human Rights, in cooperation with the Sama Organization for Psychological and Social Support, held the third dialogue session in #Baghdad with officials, decision-makers, politicians, activists, local organizations, and a number of candidates for the Iraqi House of Representatives. The amendment to the draft freedom of expression, assembly, and peaceful demonstration, the amended 2010 version, and the 2023 draft was discussed, and it was concluded. With recommendations to the central government in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, represented by the Committee to Amend the Draft on Freedom of Expression and Peaceful Demonstration before it is legislated by the House of Representatives.
This session is one of a national pressure campaign to amend the freedom of expression draft, which was held in three Iraqi governorates
To put pressure on Parliament and the Iraqi government committees to amend the articles in the draft freedom of expression law that conflict with the origin of the right and the principles of universal human rights.
This project is part of the Innovation Network for Change in the Middle East and North Africa activity “Training the Trainers to Accelerate Campaigns” in cooperation with the Gulf Center for Human Rights, within the network’s main pillars: sustainability, providing civil society with resources, and working on advocacy and campaigns.
