Trial Follow-up Programme and Infographic Report

The first Trial Follow-up Report is the result of a collaboration between the UNDP Anti-Corruption and Arbitration Initiatives Project, the Human Rights Office of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) and the Higher Judicial Council of Iraq, funded by the European Union Mission. The Trial Follow-up Programme focuses on following up on major corruption trial sessions before the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court, analyzing judicial proceedings, legislation, procedures and outcomes, and providing practical recommendations. Between August 2022 and July 2023, the Trial Follow-up Team attended 184 trial sessions, the outcomes of which were compared with the reviewed judgments of 173 judgments issued by the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court in 2019 and 2022.
