The Judicial System in Iraq and Major Corruption Cases

The Trial Follow-up Program focuses exclusively on major corruption cases heard by the Central Criminal Court of Anti-Corruption as the primary judicial mechanism for reviewing major corruption cases at the federal level in Iraq, through comparison with the provisions of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, which Iraq ratified in 2008. The program also aims to provide a close look at the judicial system in Iraq with regard to major corruption cases, highlight strengths and challenges, and provide recommendations that will enhance the effectiveness and transparency of the Central Criminal Court of Anti-Corruption and establish confidence in anti-corruption procedures.
