Al-Nidal, in cooperation with the Iraqi Women’s Network, holds a discussion session.

Al-Nidal Society for Human Rights, in cooperation with the Iraqi Women’s Network and with funding from the French Development Agency, held a discussion session entitled (The Positive Impact of Women’s Participation in the Political Process and Decision-Making) in the capital, Baghdad, on Sunday, May 19, with the participation of a number of academics, activists, and activists interested in the field of politics. The session summarized the most prominent challenges that women may face in the political process and decision-makers, and shed light on the most prominent realistic examples of women’s political reality in the country. They also talked about legislation and laws that would enhance the role of women in participating in the political process and decision-making.

The session touched on the most important forms of electoral violence that women faced in previous elections and in many years, and discussed appropriate solutions in order to reduce this violence.

At the conclusion of the session, the attendees agreed on a set of recommendations that would develop realistic solutions in order to enhance the role and status of women in participating in the political process and decision-making, which will be presented later to the relevant authorities.
