A regional panel discussion on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
“Al-Nidal participates in a regional panel discussion on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination”
Al-Nidal Society for Human Rights, represented by its president, colleague (Ali Al-Ani), participated in a virtual regional discussion via Zoom on “The Role of Local Administrations in Combating Racism and Promoting Equality in Arab Countries,” on the sidelines of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, and in the presence of a large number of experts and speakers from Various Arab countries, on March 21, at the invitation of the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights.
Our colleague (Al-Ani) presented an intervention regarding this episode, and the following is part of it: “Some citizens in Iraq still suffer from discrimination on the basis of race, religion, or gender due to the legislative gap and the urgent need to harmonize national legislation with standards and principles of human rights, in addition to contractual obligations.” The Iraqi government, in addition to the weak implementation and implementation of applicable laws, which allows violations to continue on the one hand, and impunity on the other hand for the perpetrators, does not force the victims or survivors of these violations to suffer harm.”
