Participation of Al-Nidal Association in the virtual session on the occasion of “World Press Freedom Day.” The intervention and recommendations were presented by our colleague (Ayat Al-Barzanchi), responsible for the cultural rights file.
Al-Nidal Society for Human Rights, represented by its colleague Ayat Al-Barzanji, responsible for the cultural rights file, participated in a virtual regional discussion via Zoom on “The Role of the Press in Promoting the Integrity of Elections,” at the invitation of the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development, and Human Rights.
Al-Barzanji presented an intervention regarding this episode, and the following is part of it: “One of the pillars of human rights is democracy. We try to adhere to it and support it constantly, and Iraq is a living example of the transition from a single-party experience to a multiplicity of parties, and from voting for one person, yes or no, to a multiplicity of lists and candidates.”
Year after year, the elections are better than the previous ones, and the credit goes to the media and civil society for putting pressure and correcting paths. We also do not forget the role of women in monitoring electoral elections and the sacrifices of female journalists. We seek networking between countries and cooperation to strengthen the civil movement in countries with electoral elections and challenges in changing laws, such as Iraq and the return of Saint-Lego as a system. electoral”
